Mauro's Transformation

"Joint pain, trapped lower jaw, and an ageing smile."

Mauro is one of our dearest patients. He came for an orthodontic consultation initially. His bite did not feel right, he was having joint pain and problems, he felt as though his lower jaw was trapped and that he had to squeeze his jaw muscles to fit his back teeth together. He was referred to me to analyse is bite first.

The aim of treatment was to relax the jaw, improve the bite and appearance of the teeth. Mauro felt as though the appearance of the teeth was ageing him, so he wanted to have a more youthful healthy, looking smile that was natural in colour.

Once I could ensure that the bite was comfortable, I worked together with the orthodontist so that the upper and lower teeth were positioned in a way that they could be restored with minimal destruction to the tooth surface and once restored, the bite and jaw joint would be comfortable. Mauro's teeth were restored with porcelain veneers and onlays. He loves his smile and most importantly his jaw joint is no longer in pain and his bite feels comfortable.
